Marker #2: Close-Up!
At first impression,
one might think that there is not much to be seen here, but upon
closer scrutiny, you will notice different types of trees
including giant hemlocks, black locusts, sweet birch, tulip trees
and more!
On the forest floor
there are wild grape vines, rhododendrons, and other
species. The toppled trees and stumps provide habitat for
everything from ant, beetles, mice, birds and chipmunks entice
their natural predators such as snakes, opossum, raccoons, fox and
an occasional bear looking for a meal! Find a log to sit on,
be quiet and still, and watch the forest slowly come to life!
